Is it sex or orgasm that makes labor come faster?

Everyone says that having sex helps start labor. Is it the actual sex that starts labor or is it the woman orgasming? If I have sex, but I dont orgasm will that still help? Thanks!

There is a substance in sperm that can start the cervical lining dilating/thinning, which in turn triggers labor.

is what I remember from nursing school a few years back. If you're really close to starting labor anyway, it seems that an orgasm (which can cause uterine contractions) could trigger labor, but I haven't seen any studies on that. I guess that shows which gender usually writes up studies? Lol, good luck to you! I was two weeks past my due date when labor started. I was doing anything I could think of including watching ocean waves for hours and attending a chili cook-off. The chili cook-off probably wasn't the smartest thing, since it well, lets just say it affected my digestive tract.

luck to you and your family! Woot for you!
